Here’s how to use your voice in the best way possible: 1.
Choose the right headset.
If you don’t have a headset, a good headset will give you more freedom and allow you to hear what your child is saying.
If your child doesn’t have headphones, the best solution is to make them your own.
Set the volume.
If they are not loud enough, turn up the volume to at least 80% and then adjust the volume back to 20% or 30% to get the most bang for your buck.
Use your imagination.
If it is possible, use a combination of headphones and earbuds, if you have a microphone you can also use the earbud, it might make a difference.
Use a word.
Use words that are familiar to your child, this might be the first word they say or even the first thing they say, say it a few times and see how your child reacts.
You can even make the words your own by choosing a word that they have heard before.
Choose your words carefully.
Some children can be a bit shy about saying words out loud.
For them, it is better to say things like “I don’t want to get in trouble,” “Don’t be a jerk” or “I want you to take care of me.”
They will have heard those words before and will be able tell you what they mean.
If possible, say them in a way that they can understand.
Try to get to know your child.
For most children, they can say a few words that you can understand without having to explain them.
For some, it may be a little difficult to understand what you are saying because they are just hearing you and not really saying it.
For these children, it can be difficult to know what you need to say, so use your imagination and try to make things easier for them.
Say “I’ll see you in a minute.”
As soon as they say this, you can turn on your voice recorder and listen for their response.
If the response is not good, turn off your voice recording and go back to the beginning of the recording.
Listen for your child to be quiet.
If he or she says something that you want to hear, say the words aloud and repeat it out loud, this is called speaking in a whisper.
You might also want to use a recording app such as Audible or Spotify to make your child’s voice heard as well as the way you speak.
Listen to your own voice.
Some people have a trick to make the best of the situation, by listening to your voice to make sure you can hear what they are saying, you will be more likely to hear the response from them, even if you cannot hear it yourself.
If this sounds like a hassle, try it yourself!
