As we’ve previously reported, the Pentagon has been pushing for military colleges to adopt a “Crisis In Military School” policy.

It’s an idea that has been in the works for years, but the idea has never been widely embraced by the military.

But, as I wrote in 2016, military schools are already having a crisis.

They’re in a financial squeeze as the Pentagon tries to keep up with the cost of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

As a result, they’re being forced to cut classes and even drop entire classes in order to save money.

It also has a chilling effect on students, who don’t feel like they’re taking the risks that they might need to.

Here are 10 ways the military’s military schools can be saved.


Let students go to school at night, so they don’t get too bored with their classes.

It would help keep the school environment in check. 

Military schools are often at their peak during the summer, when students are more focused on academics and socializing.

However, as military officials have warned, the summer months can be a time of intense stress, especially for students with ADHD, depression, or anxiety disorders.

In other words, it’s not easy to focus on your studies when you’re surrounded by other students with the same issues. 

In a 2016 survey, 42 percent of the military school students said that their school was the most stressful they’d experienced during the last two years. 


Create more opportunities for students to engage in activities.

The military is often criticized for having a culture of low expectations, especially among its young people.

But in a 2015 survey, more than two-thirds of students said they feel pressured to do too much in school.

And a 2015 study from the National Institute of Education found that military school is also often more stressful for students than other high school programs. 


Make military schools more inclusive. 

When the Department of Defense began to study ways to improve military education, it was focused on making sure that military students would be as involved as possible.

One idea was to create a special program to encourage military students to take part in extracurricular activities, such as theater, dance, or sports. 

But a study published in 2017 by the RAND Corporation found that this program was largely ineffective, because students were “not participating in meaningful extracursional activities in military schools” and were “more likely to engage their peers in extramarital activities or pursue recreational activities that could be categorized as risky or potentially harmful.”

Instead, the RAND study found, the military should focus more on making military schools safe spaces for students. 


Give students more hands-on opportunities.

In a 2016 study, more women were graduating from the military than men, despite the fact that women make up just 12 percent of all enlisted personnel.

The RAND study suggests that the military needs to consider adding more hands on learning opportunities to the military experience. 

“Students are not getting the training that they need to be in the military,” said Sarah Darragh, director of RAND’s Military Leadership Institute. 

A lot of people assume that students are simply too stressed to go to class, but a 2014 study by the National Science Foundation found that students were more likely to report feeling overwhelmed at school if they were told that their classes were closed for the day. 


Reduce the number of people working in military bases.

In 2018, the Army began an initiative called “Army Work-In,” which offered full-time civilian jobs in military housing and offices.

That’s a significant change for the military, which traditionally has been a very small base.

As of 2020, the base was the largest military employment in the country.

But as we’ve reported, it isn’t just the number that matters, but how much it costs to run the base. 

The RAND study also found that while the number working in bases dropped slightly in 2020, there was still a “significant” drop in the number who worked at a base.

The number of civilian workers on active duty dropped from 15.3 percent of active duty forces in 2020 to 11.6 percent in 2020. 


Increase the number in-demand jobs.

The Military Times recently reported that there were about 15,000 civilian positions in the US that were “overburdened” and “underutilized.” 

The study estimated that the current civilian workforce could handle about 13,000 positions in 2019.

That means that if the current level of civilian hiring continues at current levels, the number for the US military could grow by over 200,000 in 2019 alone. 


Increase pay for civilian workers.

According to a report by the Institute for Policy Innovation, the current median base pay for a civilian employee in the United States is about $40,000 a year.

If Congress increased the base pay by 5 percent, it would create a $3 billion increase for the base, according to the institute. 8
