A mother who tried to keep her daughter safe at a Dearborn Public School on Wednesday has been charged with three counts of attempted murder, authorities said.
On Wednesday afternoon, police responded to a 911 call at St. Thomas High School, where a student reported she heard a noise at the school and then saw the suspect jump on the front porch, said Metro Detroit Police Chief Todd Axtell.
Police say the suspect, a female, then grabbed a rifle and began shooting at the students, who fled.
A police dog was also involved in the incident, which happened in the 1500 block of Grandview Avenue.
Police say the student who was shot was treated and released from a hospital.
The incident is still under investigation.
No one else was injured.
